About CISCOS

The CISCOS project addresses challenges for innovation faced by relevant actors of the disability service provision sector. The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities as well as the EU’s Disability Strategy 2010-2020 both embody a ‘paradigm shift’, from charity and the medical approaches to disability to one which is firmly rooted in human rights (‘inclusion paradigm’).

Uncertainty on implementation strategies under conditions of economic restrictions is rising in local governments, but even more in disability service providers. Both fields now face changing social environments strongly requiring new forms of inter-sectoral local cooperation, inclusive conceptual answers for service provision and corresponding organizational transformation processes.

In this context the CISCOS project has developed a multinational training course for personnel in disability service organizations, local governments and university students. The project consortium consisted of organizations from nine European countries.

The “CISCOS Training Package” can be downloaded free of charge from the Siegen University Library website. The CISCOS Training Package is also available in German, Greek, Hungarian, Polish, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish language.
